How To Configure MOBOTIX Time Server Function
If the individual MOBOTIX cameras in a surveillance system are not time-synchronized, this can cause serious house-keeping issues with video management in relation to searching and playing back recorded footage. So how can you ensure the time and date in each MOBOTIX IP camera is synchronised? The answer lies within the Time Server function.
This tutorial will show you how to configure Time Server in a MOBOTIX camera. Setting up Time Server is important, as this will ensure all your cameras have exactly the same time and date. This is especially important when it comes to playing back recorded video, such as an event captured by many cameras on the system where you might have a person or vehicle moving through the field of view of multiple cameras.
If the times of all the cameras are in sync then you can playback a walk through of the captured sequences between the cameras. If there are variances in the time and date settings of the cameras, then the recordings will also have variances which in turn will cause issues in the video search and playback management.
